Procession to Enshrine the Venerable’s Body for Merit-Making
- 09:00 AM Preparation and installation of the casket on the ceremonial platform inside the ordination hall of Wat Thai, Washington, D.C.
- 10:00 AM Ten senior monks chant the Matika (Pangsukul)
- 11:00 AM Offering of the midday meal (Lunch) to the Sangha
- 1:00–3:00 PM Meditation practice and Dhamma talks by the senior monk
- 7:00 PM Four chanting monks perform the Abhidhamma recitation, followed by a Dhamma talk by the senior monk.
Saturday, May 2, 2026
Continuation of Merit-Making at the Ordination Hall, Wat Thai, Washington, D.C.
- 10:00 AM Ten senior monks chant the Dhammaniyama Sutta
- 11:00 AM Offering of the midday meal (Lunch) to all attending monks
- 1:00–3:00 PM Dhamma discussion: “Luang Ta Chi — A Life Devoted to the Dhamma.”
- 7:00 PM Four chanting monks perform the Abhidhamma recitation, followed by a Dhamma talk by the senior monk.
Sunday, May 3, 2026
Royal Cremation Ceremony at the Temporary Cremation Pavilion, Wat Thai, Washington, D.C.
- 10:00 AM Ten senior monks chant the Dhammaniyama Sutta
- 11:00 AM Offering of the midday meal (Lunch) to all monks attending the ceremony
- 1:00 PM The Dhamma talks delivered by Ajahn Pasanno, Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery
- 2:00 PM All monks chant the Matika (merit-transference chants)
- 3:00 PM Pangsukul ceremony (presentation of robes to the Sangha)
- 4:00 PM Royal Cremation Fire Lighting Ceremony begins
- Four ceremonial monks chant Abhidhamma
- Sandalwood flower offering at the temporary cremation pavilion by the monks and the lay community
- Distinguished guests receive funeral keepsakes
Post-Ceremony
- 5:00 PM The remains will be transferred to Donaldson Funeral Home for cremation scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
