Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year’s Day. All Thais perform many auspicious ceremonies on this day. It also presents an opportunity for Thai people to remember and pay respect to their parents, relatives, teachers, and others.

Free parking at Barrie School and Glenmont Metro Station.

Wat Thai Washington, D. C. will provide shuttle buses for pick-up and drop-off at Glenmont Metro parking lot area between 8:30 am – 4.00 pm.

All members and friends are invited

Songkran Festival : Thai New Year 2018

8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

7:00 a.m. Breakfast served to the monks.
8:30 a.m. Pouring of lustral water to honor the Buddha image
– Food and merchandise stands open
10:00 a.m. Religious ceremony.
10:30 a.m. Offering of food to the monks.
11:00 a.m. Lunch served to the monks.
– Memorial service and sermons by the Abbot “Luang Ta Chi”
1:30 p.m. Pouring of lustral water to honor the monks, Thai Dance and Music Shows
3.30 p.m. Food and merchandise stands close
